Zotero Libreoffice Mac

ZoteroLibreofficeZotero download mac

Used software:
Mac OS X 10.8.4
Firefox 23.0.1
LibreOffice 4.1.0.4
Zotero for Firefox 4.0.12
LibreOffice plugin 3.5.6
Problem:
I tested both the standalone and the 'for Firefox' version. Everything worked for a while. Then I encountered a 'could not communicate, make sure Zotero is active' error with the LibreOffice plugin. After uninstalling Zotero and the plugin, I still got this error. Then I deleted Zotero's preference files in the Library/Application Support folder.
Afterwards, Zotero complained that it couldn't find the profile files. I told it to use the Firefox folder. But now the Zotero toolbar doesn't appear in LibreOffice anymore.
Comment:
The software is potentially fantastic but is annoying the hell out of me right now ;-)
PS: What about extra buttons in Zotero itself (not the word processor plugin) named 'Copy reference' and 'Copy bibliography' which would allow you to copy the reference or bibliography for each source to the clipboard so that you don't need a word processor plugin? I clicked on 'Remove field codes' after inserting it to LibreOffice anyway because I don't like interactive elements in a document and find that it makes the editing easier (even though it destroys the link to Zotero).

Zotero Mac Word

The final string of Terminal commands is 'LibreOffice - Preferences - LibreOffice Advanced'. At least in my case, the Terminal responds with '-bash: LibreOffice: command not found '. This doesn't appear to disrupt the functionality of either LO or Zotero (so far). Zotero is a powerful, easy-to-use research tool that helps you gather, organize, and analyze sources and then share the results of your research. Zotero is a free software to collect and create bibliography via web browser. Zotero licensed in GNU AGPL, and is available in GNU/Linux, Windows and Mac OS X. Zotero has support for free office suite software like OpenOffice.org, LibreOffice, and NeoOffice.Zotero used in research (or in any field that need citation and bibliography management). Its main features are to collect bibliography. If the Zotero thread/toolbar (or the Zotero scripts menu in Word 2008/2011 for Mac) doesn't appear, follow these steps: Close Word or LibreOffice. In Zotero, go to Tools → Add-ons → Extensions. If either the Zotero Word for Mac/Windows Integration or Zotero LibreOffice Integration is disabled, click on the Enable button to re-enable the extension.

  • re: your PS - that does exist:

Let us know if you still want help with the LO plugin. Generally, it's likely better to take a lighter touch in troubleshooting, this should be an easy fix. If so, we'd ask you to re-install the LO components from the 'Cite' tab of the Zotero preferences and mention the exact error message you're getting in that process.

The Quick Copy function works like a charm, thank you!
I still would like to find out why the LO plugin doesn't work anymore (since I am curious now). The exact error message is:
    ------------
    [JavaScript Error: 'this.docShell is null' {file: 'chrome://global/content/bindings/browser.xml' line: 323}]
[JavaScript Error: 'TypeError: temp is null' {file: 'chrome://global/content/bindings/preferences.xml' line: 1175}]
[JavaScript Error: '[Exception... 'unopkg at /Applications/LibreOffice.app/Contents/MacOS/unopkg failed to install' when calling method: [nsIObserver::observe]' nsresult: '0x8057001e (NS_ERROR_XPC_JS_THREW_STRING)' location: 'native frame :: <unknown filename> :: <TOP_LEVEL> :: line 0' data: no]']
  • Start with http://www.zotero.org/support/word_processor_plugin_troubleshooting#installation_error
  • I located the folder of the unopkg file but to my surprise there was only an alias.
I then deleted LibreOffice 4.1.0 and installed LibreOffice 4.0.4. This solved the described problem.
Dear all,
I'm using a macOs Mojave 10.14.4.
and I read the guidelines to install the Zotero Plugin in Libre Office:
'1)Open LibreOffice Extension Manager in Tools > Extension Manager.
2)Click Add in the Extension Manager dialog.
3) In your Zotero installation directory, navigate to zoteroOpenOfficeIntegration@zotero.org/install.
4) Choose the Zotero_OpenOffice_Integration.oxt file.
5) Restart LibreOffice and check if the Zotero toolbar appears under View > Toolbars.'
However, I cannot find the Zotero installation directory in the Application folder.
Or perhaps I am looking in the wrong place?
Do you have any suggestions?
I'm stuck at point 3.
Thank you very much,
A

  • The full path should be: /Applications/Zotero.app/Contents/Resources/extensions/zoteroOpenOfficeIntegration@zotero.org/install/
It should be accessible if you right click on the Zotero App in the Applications folder and select 'Show Package Contents'
  • But these steps also shouldn't generally be necessary — either the plugin should be installed automatically or you should be able to reinstall it from the Cite pane of the Zotero preferences. On Windows it's sometimes necessary to manually install the Word plugin due to security software blocking the installation, but that's unlikely to be necessary on a Mac and for LibreOffice.
In this case, @Artemide_23, make sure you've actually installed Zotero into the Applications folder and you're not running it from the disk image (which the latest version of Zotero should warn you about and prevent, but you could be on an older version).
